Hyperboard Won't Hold Notes

I installed Hyperboard and added it to both a page and a post. I can add sticky notes, although they are very see-through unlike the demo. As long as I am on the page the notes are there. But if I leave and come back, the board is blank?

I’m wondering if this is a permissions error? Is there additional set-up needed?

I can see that the posts were created, they are there in the admin panel. Do I need to create a special category?

Also, I am using the twenty-eleven theme with no modifications. Does the theme play a part? Or is this plug-in just outdated for 3.2.1?
