Can't find the right theme format! HELP!

I am starting a website and new to wordpress. I cannot find the right format for what I am trying to accomplish. Please go to http://www.tuckermax.com to see what I am looking for. As you can see, I want there to be a permanent section right in the middle where I can have my stories as a link, then readers can click on the link and read the story, and it will stay on my website permanently. I don’t want a non-permanent blog section in the middle of the website.
