• Hi,

A friend offered to do a website for me using WordPress but only left it half finished.

There are loads of changes I want to make, but I’m pretty clueless with the whole thing.

The style.css page seems to be calling a core.css file, but I don’t know where this is. I think my friend is hosting it on his own domain.

When I use Firebug, lots of different CSS files are referenced, but aren’t in the dashboard.

I want to change things like removing a search bar, aligning the navigation properly, changing the navigation and heading font and font colour, changing link colours etc.

    Can anyone help me please?

  • Rather than trying to edit theme files through the WordPress admin, accessing your site and theme files via FTP (or similar) will be easier. A better option again would be to set up a local server running WordPress on your computer and customize the theme there first rather than on your live site. It is faster and easier to fix if you stuff things up during your customization and changes.

If you have any specific issues or problems you can always ask here for help. Another option is to hire a WordPress developer if you don’t have the skills to do it yourself.
