The themes folder must already exist in your wp-content/themes directory. Can you login to your site via FTP (or other) and check? If so, you can delte the themes folder and try reinstalling the theme.
Sorry, I didn’t even know I had a reply here. I am very new at this and not even sure what you mean. I tried to install a couple of different themes, but none seemed to work. I am working on two different blogs at the moment, but they have different log-ins and passwords – not sure if that would matter at all. Didn’t have any problems with my first site, only the second. I feel like I can’t even get it going if I can’t install a theme…
Anyway, many thanks…
-Lisa
PS Have now checked the box to be notified of replies by email 🙂
@lisasparkle,
That message means that you have previously installed the Suffusion Theme, and therefore already have a \wp-content\themes\suffusion directory, which will cause the uploader to fail.
Try deleting the \wp-content\themes\suffusion directory, using an FTP client or your host’s file manager, and then try to upload the Theme again.
Thanks for the reply, Chip. I’ve tried to install other themes as well and nothing will work…
Looking at the files via FTP now but nothing matches what you said to delete…
I take it back – I found the file directory and deleted it. Will try to upload again now. Many thanks.

I have the same problem as Lisa. Can you tell me what it means to log-in via FTP and where is wp-content/themesdirectory located?
Thanks

These are incredibly basic questions, that you really should know the answer to before you attempt to install WordPress (or any other server application). You might want to start here:
