• All of the links that are typically shown in the admin of WP for Incoming Links and Plugins or Developer News are showing hundreds of warnings:
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/muzocial/public_html/backstage/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 738
They all look similar to this error with various lines being referenced but something is definitely not right here for being a fresh install using Softaculous in our hosts Cpanel!
This is a new installation using the Genesis Framework and themes so not anything out of the ordinary. Can someone get me pointed in the right direction here please as I have never experienced a bad install of WP until now.

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Not sure what that is suppose to do as it is the compatibility of this version of simplepie that is causing the issue and being reported in all warnings that are appearing in the Dashboard..?

Well, I’m not getting the same warnings when running in debug mode on any of my 3.2.1 installs so, for laughs, why not try a re-upload?

We did, with no effect! It’s the simplepie that is causing this as EVERY warning out of the hundreds of them that are being displayed anywhere a rss feed is suppose to be displaying for Incoming Links, Plugins or Developer news in the admin is showing the class.simplepie.php in the warning.

Well, you appear to be the only one that has this problem – so it’s something specific to your site (like an incomplete upgrade).
