Moving site url from /wordpress to root level
-
Hi, I have a friend who installed WP in /wordpress. She then has a ghastly index.html in her root level that has an iframe containing http://www.example.com/wordpress/ !!!
I have seen the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install and feel happy to follow these through.
The questions I have though are:
– how do I make sure that old links coming in to /wordpress/… redirect to the root level?
– will the admin login still be under /wordpress/wp-admin/ ?
– anything else I should look out for?
– any plugins (e.g. for redirects) that might help? It’s not a very old site or particularly well visited, so not huge risk as long as I don’t break it entirely!
Thanks
