• I just finished moving a new WordPress site from a testing environment to its new server and domain, replacing a very awful HTML site in the process. Migrating the site was painful and frightening, but I managed to do it.

But it got me thinking about another site of mine…this other site will not let me upgrade WordPress or plugins without a major fight…usually if I try to upgrade a plugin automatically, it’ll delete the old plug in (but not the folder it was in) and then the upload will fail, and then I can’t delete the now empty old folder from the server, and it’s a pain. As a result, I don’t tend to upgrades very often. It’s lame.

So I was thinking, hey, wouldn’t it be great if I could export the contents of my site, then wipe the server clean, install a fresh copy of WordPress and import the contents of my site to the new installation and live happily ever after?

How stupid is this idea, on a scale of 1 to 10?
