500 Error uploading a PDF

When I attempt to upload a pdf file to the media library on my WordPress site, I recieve a HTTP 500 error. I have tried various pdf files, all under the 8MB limit, and only one was able to be uploaded (59.1KB).
This is being hosted on Go Daddy.
