How to I remove the ‘Leave a Reply’ box that is by default at the bottom of each page?

there are plenty of resolved topics in this forum on how to disable comments on pages;
please use the forum search;
for instance: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/turn-off-comments-on-pages-by-default?replies=25

I am using twenty-ten as my theme and cannot find

<?php comments_template(); ?>

in order to remove the comments by default. Does anyone know where it is in this theme?
