URL problems between WP & directories outside WP

    On my hosting account,
    I have some html pages separate from WordPress in a directory I cant get to from the url they are at. I keep ending up in the WordPress home page.

    URL examples:
    thewebpost/sons/page1.html
    thewebpost/sons/page2.html

    keeps directing me to

    thewebpost/wordpresshome
    or
    thewebpost/folder/wordpresshome

    after changing options neither work

    I had the WP installation installed to a folder trying to avoid the root installation to keep a clean root. I then used the option to change the home page to the root. In Settins/General I can change it back to original folder and I get the same results.

    For some reason I can not get to any other URL with thewebpost as the URL. They all go to the home page of WP. I have 2 other small folders/directories that have html files I would like to access but I don’t want anyone to have to go through WP to get there.

    I hope I have been descriptive enough with my problem and I would really appreciate some help or advice with this.
