• Hi,

very new to wordpress while im handy with html and css and basic php i just cant seem to get my head around WP!

All i want to do at the moment is to have a homepage that isnt managed by wordpress, yet is linked by the a home link in the WP navbar. (if it makes it easier the homepage can be integrated with WP, it just wont be used as its a full page splash page)

can someone point me in the right direction? ive searched for it and im getting so many different results that im unsure which tutorials are telling me to do the right thing, getting me to create themes etc.. when in theory all i want to do is modify the URL of the “home” link..

    Thanks in advance 🙂

  • Have a look at Settings->General and Settings->Reading – both contain options about site/home URLs and about what the user sees on the homepage.

    hi thanks for the reply,

i have been playing around with those settings for a few hours now to no avail – installing WP and my splash page in various places too.

if i create a static home page – it requires me to use WP for it – which requires me to design a entire theme for a html / css page i allready have completed outside of WP – which isnt much use to me.

if i redirect using the site address url setting – that seems to change the root of my entire site (even though thats explicitly the opposite of what it claims to do..)

im still quite stuck on what really should not be this difficult!

    Any other thoughts people? 🙂
