Making my navigation bars

    I am new to wordpress and I am really struggling. I am using it for business purposes only – no blogging whatsoever. I need a them (currently trying swift) that will allow a navigation bar across the top (with usuals like home page, contact us, advertise with us, about us) and on the left side for the states in the US. I have tried for HOURS and cannot seem to figure out how to do this. My site will eventually have advertisements as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Most themes will allow you to use the built-in WordPress menus to create your own menu structure. The theme determines where the menu is to be displayed and its appearance.

    For the sidebar menu, there is a Custom Menu widget that will let you place your own menu in the sidebar.
