newbie – edit sidebar?

    hi guys,

    this is my first post.

    im trying to learn how to edit the wordpress sidebar? im using a theme called ‘default’. is there somewhere in wordpress itself that i can edit links etc or do i have to take the sidebar.php file into dreamweaver and edit it there?

    just not sure what the norm is.
