Pretty Links?

Hi all!

So, I am trying to figure out how to get “pretty” links, such as this example here: http://sayralopez.com/

Everything is hername.com/about, or hername.com/contact. Are these permalinks? I am so lost on how to do this, if it’s something to do with wordpress setup or hosting/domains… but I thought I would try here first.
