• Hi guys,

FIrst of all, I am fairly new to WordPress and I wanted to know whether it is possible at all to insert embedded HTML code that I received from the SoundCloud website to my sidebar? Here is the actual code:

<style type='text/css'>a.soundcloud-badge:hover {background-position: bottom left !important;} *html a.soundcloud-badge {background-image: none !important; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='(http://a1.sndcdn.com/images/badges/fmonsc/square/white.png?10e4608)', sizingMethod='crop') !important;}</style><!-- if you want to have valid HTML, please be so kind and put the style part in the head of your page --><a href='http://soundcloud.com/boo2zz/follow'><span style="display: block; width: 137px; height: 20px; padding: 20px 0 0 12px; overflow: hidden; -o-text-overflow: ellipsis; text-overflow: ellipsis">boo2zz</span></a>

[Please post code snippets between backticks or use the code button.]

As far as I understand from various threads that I’ve read, it is not possible to insert HTML based codes to the side bar? Is that true? If so, is there any other way I could manage it e.g. any specific widgets or anything else at all ?

    Yours sincerely,

    Aleksandr

  • Try adding it to the <head></head> section of your theme’s header.php template file.

Ermm, could you please elaborate on this for me? As far as I understand I need to go to the Edit CSS, grab the original CSS code for my theme, choose Start from scratch and just use this and edit it there? Could you please correct me if I am wrong, or may be tell me the easier way to accomplish it ? :0

    Is this a wordpress.com site?

yeah it is, I just purchased my own domain through the wordpress for $17 per year I believe. Well, as far as I understood WordPress does not support Javascrypts or whatever it is… I have been using RapidWeaver before, which is a Mac based application for creating and hosting individual websites. It was fairly easy to do it there, all I had to do was to copy and paste the code from let’s say Twitter widget or any other widget and it just worked. Here, however, it is not supported 🙁 Which, of course is a shame actually ;(

Now, the other question arrises: a friend of mine has his blog at WordPress too, however, for some unknown reason he is able to add that widely used Twitter widget and many other things like YouTube Channel widget etc…

Sorry but these forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your questions on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/
