Well I just installed WordPress. After importing some posts from another blog of mine using the RSS feed, I tried to create a new post, but it gave me this error saying I didn’t have permission to edit it, when trying to preview or post it.

Also, when I try to delete drafts from the drafts page, it results in an internal server error, while I am able to delete them successfully by visiting the draft to be deleted and deleting it from the page.

    Any help?

Update: It’s now giving me server errors when I try to edit a post. I know for a fact it’s not my host’s problem.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

I did all that, and it didn’t change anything. A google search said that this can be due to mod_security problems, anything to say about that?

I also get errors when I try to delete any article, it results in an internal server error. This is a fresh installation of WordPress, no plugins installed, and it was doing this before the theme change.

That’s something you will need to speak to your hosts about.

I did that, and they said it was related to WordPress, not the host.

I get the error when I try to create a new post, and it says I didn’t have permission to edit it.

Also, as I said, deleting posts results in an internal server error.

Alright, a post in this thread fixed it all: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/you-are-not-allowed-to-edit-this-post-1?replies=23

You guys should change your recommended Tumblr import script, it’s causing you problems.

    That’s a 3rd party script.

So you’d rather people corrupt their blogs with that crappy one? Wow, that’s quite shocking.

Anyways, thanks to the user in that post who had the solution, it was a godsend.

If you know of a better Tumblr import script, please let us know.

This one did it without corrupting the blog, and it imported the tags too, which the other one didn’t: http://www.tumblr2wp.com/

Thanks. I’ll add it to that Codex page asap.

To avoid confusion of the users, I recommend putting Tumblr2WP first, or removing the other utility which doesn’t work with the current version of WordPress it seems. It didn’t even import the posts from my Tumblog.

Any idea when it stopped working – in terms of what WP version? I’ll add a note to the link for now – to the effect that it may not work with WP 3.0 or above.
