click ‘screen options’ in the ‘edit post’ or ‘edit page’ page in the dashboard – if you don’t see the ‘discussion’ field below the post/page editor.
tick the ‘discussion’ box there – this should reveal the ‘discussion’ area below the post/page editor, where you can then disable/enable the comments individually for the post/page.
Thank you for the suggestion. That made the “allow comments” checkbox appear, but it was already checked and it still says “Comments Off” in all the posts. Any other ideas of what might be causing this. I even tried to use the new theme as recommended in other posts, but it shows the same way there. Thanks again.

Sure, check your settings in admin:
‘Settings’ –> ‘Discussion’
I’m sure you’ll find the setting in there. =)
That’s set to “Allow people to post comments on new articles” as well, so that’s not it. Thank you for the suggestion.
Hi all,
I was never able to get the above figured out and I’m almost at a point where I’m getting ready to scrap the blog and start all over. Is that the only way to fix this or does anyone know of other ways to resolve wordpress problems? Any help is greatly appreciated on this.
Hey I am having the exact same problem except I have one post comments are working and the more recent ones are not showing. Honestly I am about to do the exact same thing. I’m wondering if it is the newest version of WordPress?
I’m at PremiumAged.com
I don’t think it ever worked for me. Did you post work before you upgraded? I read a couple of other comments about people having issues with the reinstall after removing the first install which worries me a little. I only have a few posts on my blog, so it would be that big a deal to repost those, but I’m not a programmer, so the chance of getting myself into more trouple if i uninstall has me hesitating. Please let me know if you get any good recommendations and I will do the same.
Hey I figured it out and I thought I would share with you right away since you seemed so nice, without adding post tags you are unable it is unable to allow a discussion tab on the bottom of the page. I think this may be due to specific themes and thus not a universal problem. Feel free to comment on my blog and I’ll make sure to do the same when yours is up!

I thought I would clarify a bit, as I noticed you had no post tags as I did not on one post but another. Once you add post tags, you will see a ‘post a discussion’ tab on the bottom which is unchecked. This unlike everything else that I checked actually works so just add a few tags and then make sure to check the box at the bottom.
Lifeasks,
You are a life saver! Seriously, that worked. Initially it was only the first post that had comments turned on, but after looking though various menu options in the dashboard I found out that I had comment set to be turned off after 30 days. With that being gone, I’m now in business! Thank you so much for figuring this out and sharing. I posted a quick comment on your blog, so see if that works. Great poems! Have a wonderful weekend!
