I did look around before posting. Other people had this problem right after upgrading to 1.5.1. I upgraded the day after the release and this error is just from today.
More and more I think its a problem with my host since I can see the MySql DB.

Try upgrading to WP v1.5.1.1.
Upgraded to 1.5.1.1 last week. I’m waiting to here from my host (which was very good and quick until now – http://www.hostm.com).

Just to update – problem solved. My host claim that: “It looks like there was a DDOS attack that was overloading MySQL”.
Can the attack effect only the database and not the rest of the site?

It is possible for a DDoS attack to affect only a database if the database if on a different host other than localhost.

You are right – I didn’t know of 1.5.1.1, I was talking about 1.5.1.
As far as I know the database is on localhost.
