Dated Archive Question

    I’m trying to get a nice bunch of archive pages… probably one per month.

    1) First of all, what template do i need to create? What is the difference between calling one archive.php vs archives.php?

    2) If I create an archive template, why do I need to create a page based on it?

    3) It seems easy enough to create a page based on the default that WP gives you to spit out a list of all months – http://www.triplepundit.com/archives/ …. but none of those links do anything. What are they trying to do? What is missing from the default archive template page I copied from here – http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Archive_Index ????

    4) What do I need to add to #3 to make a nice page of Title/Excerpts for a month? or a Week for that matter?
