How to share users over multiple wordpress sites?

Is it possible to share users over multiple wordpress sites, but they are both on different databases and I have been running these for about a year now.

http://www.team-vanity.com/tournaments/cupsSo when someone signs up to one site, it signs them up to the other etc…
