• The documentation says that there is a + or – to adjust this, but, though I am a USER level 10, i am not seeing this in the USERS / Authors and Users tab. I am using 1.5.

Also, can I set this when i create an account? I cant see a field for it.

    Thanks in advance

  • The Level 10 user initialy created is special and can’t be demoted.

You will see it for any other users you create – by default they start of as 0 I believe.

see the codex page on User Levels for more info.

    Uhhhmmm… yes.
I should have stated in my fist post ON THE CODEX PAGE its says that you use the + or – to change user level.

What I am saying is that though I am a LEVEL 10, I do not see the option to change other users levels ANYWHERE in the Dashboard User/Authors Users interface.

    AGAIN the Codex says
n the list of registered users, look across the table to the actual user’s level, ranging from 0 to 10. On either side of the user levels below 10, there is a minus (-) and plus (+). Click the minus to decrease a user’s level and click the plus to increase a user’s level.

but my 1.5 interface has no place to change the user level as indicated above.

    Am i missing something?

    Thanks again, in advance

    Ok.

I’ve just tried adding a user to a new wp-1.5.1 install and here’s what I see. on Users >> Authors & Users a freshly registered/added user appears in a section titled “Registered Users” there is a “Promote” button in the table of users – clicking this will promote the user to a level 1 user and then they will appear in the “Authors” section and you get the +/- ability to promote them further or demote them back to “Registered User” status.

    Hope this helps

    Ahhh figured it out myself

For those of you clueless types (like me) There is not a + or – button until you click the words PROMOTE that is on the info line of the user.

When you click PROMOTE you then get a + or – to raise or lower their level.
