The category links on our website have recently just stopped working. When I click on a category, let’s call it “Accessories”, i get the front page of the website. The actual template being shown is index.php, instead of archive.php as it should.

Now, I did some reading before posting this. I saw people with issues that their categories are gone. My categories are still there, and show the number of posts in them. I see my articles tied to the categories in the back-end fine.

I have checked my apache logs, php logs, and mysql logs for errors and have none.

    Help?!

Ok, I believe I solved the issue. It’s odd, but here is what I did.

Back in version, oh, 2.something, we changed our permalinks to “topics” instead of “category”. Well, the “topics” links are the one that werent working.

So, after rebuilding the database and all kinds of things, i finally decided to go into the permalinks settings and just re-click “SAVE”. It already knew to use “topics” as my category base, all i had to do was “SAVE CHANGES”.

And guess what? It all started working. The category links now work.

    Go figure.

Figured I would share this for anyone else who had the same issue.
