Hello! I hope someone can help me out there…I’m not very tech oriented.

I have been working hard getting my wordpress.org site up and running so it can take over my current website.

Tonight, I felt ready to point my blog to my website address.

I read a few articles and went to the settings tab on the dashboard. Under General, at the top, I found my wordpress address under site url and home url: unwindyarnhouse.com/wp
I made a couple of changes, saw that I had messed something up and put everything back exactly as I had found them. Too late. Now I can’t even get into my dashboard. This is the error message I’m getting:
    Not Found

The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.

What have I done? More imprtantly, is it un-doable? I’m beside myself…

    Sob,

    Wendy

  • oh boy, you and i seem to be in the same boat. i was walked through to the “back door” or the wp server and changed the wite and wp URL back to the original, but it is still not working. at this point it is looking like I will have to start from scratch. I REALLY hope you get an answer, so that I can have an answer. Good luck!

p.s. they really need a bright flashing warning sign when people try to attempt to do that.

If I have to start from scratch I’ll pass out. I’ve seen some other posts that suggest there is help….just waiting. Patiently. Best of luck to you to!

It appears that your blog is still located in this subdirectory: //unwindyarnhouse.com/wp/

    //unwindyarnhouse.com/wp/wp-login.php

… but your source code reflects that you have removed the “/wp” directory from the addresses in the dashboard. You will have to use one of the methods in this article to reset your url. I recommend using phpMyAdmin if you have it.

Then read this article completely before attempting the move again.

ClaytonJames! Thank you, thank-you–we’re almost there!

So, I followed the instructions for the phpmyadmin change. I basically just added ‘/wp’ to the end of the url in ‘siteurl’ field and the ‘home’ field. Not sure if that’s what I was supposed to do…

Now I can log in to my dashboard and see my wordpress home page but all the other wordpress pages are pointing to a strange looking version of my current website home page (unwindyarnhouse.com).

    What did I miss?

You might try letting wordpress update/refresh your permalinks /.htaccess file. That might do it. I’m not sure what else it might be.

Yay!! All better…thanks very much for your time : )

You’re welcome! Glad it all worked out.
