Code To Call? RSS Feed

I’ve written a basic widget to match my themes sidebar style that contains an image link to the rss feed. As I hope to include this in my theme for others to use on their websites I need the method or code to uhh call? or fetch? the blogs rss feed url. Please excuse my lack of terminknowledge.
