Show posts from defined category

Hello everyone,

I’m currently developing my first theme and I’m looking for support.

In my sidebar i’ve got to do following things:
– insert a secondary menu with 2-5 elements (aligned vertically with the use of accordion),
– in each of the categories i have to show one last post,
– under that post i’ve got to put input field, which will allow users to jump to a post from the category from a specific date (it can be a post title).

I’m also posting a simple image on what i’ve got in mind.
All necessary data will be posted in WP, so it doesn’t have to get data from the web.
