PIecemaker Overlaps Content in MSIE

FireFox display is perfect, but MSIE – not so much:

I had to add a conditional stylesheet to get my menu bar to lineup with the background:

#pages{position: absolute; margin-top: 17px;}

then I had to move the page content further down to accommodate that change:
#header{margin-top: 20px;}

I’m now lost in trying to get the Piecemaker not hide the page content. Whay I can’t figure out is how it moves the menu bar down yet the content stays fixed in position instead of shifting lower on the page to accomodate the Piecemaker.
