You can see it in action here http://katesgasis.com/archives/.

The installation was a breeze. Just upload the file kgarchives.php to your /wp-content/plugins folder and create a page with posts &lt–KGSortForm–> and <–KGSortArch–>.

It lets you sort your archive by months and then group it by category before showing you the daily posts within that category.

    Example:
    April 2005
    Category 1
    30: post in category 1
    29: post in category 2
    .
    .

    Category 2
    30: post in category 2
    29: post in category 2
    .
    .

    March 2005
    Category 1
    30: post in category 1
    .
    .

    Category 2
    30: post in category2
    .
    .

If you want to show only all the post in a specified month just select the month in the archive form. To display all, select All Months.

    Geez, it’s that easy.

    page not found!

What page cannot be found? The archives?

worked this time 🙂 it must be a UK thing, every host hates us…

Does this protect password protected posts, and does it include or excluse drafts/private entries?

    Thread Starter katesgasis

    (@katesgasis)

It protects password protected posts and does not include drafts and private entries.

    Call me stupid… go ahead.

Now that your done with that.

Is this supposed to place a button on the write page display like the comment form plugin? I’m assuming not because your instructions state to manually place the two sections of code.

Secondly, when I used the code (<--KGSortForm--><--KGSortArch-->) it displayed the tags vice the archives.

    Any thoughts?

I’m sorry if the tags did not display correctly here. If you have read the readme.txt you can find the instructions there. Anyway, here <–KGSortForm–> and &lt–KGSortArch–> .

Damn, this post does not display ampersands correctly either. <!–KGSortForm–> and <!–KGSortArch–>. Hope this works.

There, use my last post. Again, my mistake I thought it would display correctly if I use amps.

    Yep that did it.

But funny I did use the correct tags as per the readme file, for some reason it burped. A second attempt corrected the problem.

Update: Ver1.2 is out. It now hides future posts. You can get it here.

Is it possible to show all the categories for a month without grouping them into categories? I am asking because I would just like a purely chronological list and have a separate category archive.

    (@katesgasis)

What do you mean? Like Sort all posts for a month without grouping them in categories.

    April 2005
    30: A post
    29: A previous post
    28: Yet another previous post

    ?

If it’s what you want, Shawn Grimes has a similar plugin. In fact mine is based on his. You can visit his site at http://www.hexfactor.com.

You’ve got it. Like you can see here:
    http://blindmuse.com/blog/2004/

I had a quick look at the plugin, and although I understand that it’s more or less a matter of removing the loop in which categories are processed, php still intimidates me somewhat.

If you’d be able to show me how I’d be very grateful indeed 🙂
