• Hi. I’m using the Rainbow Trance theme and I’m very new too this but I’m learning quickly. I’m trying to remove some things on the sidebar, if not everything.

    Here’s the page:

I want too remove the “categories” and “blogroll” or change the name, but I cannot find the code anywhere to change these. I’ve searched the sidebar.php and style.css files and cannot find it.

    Please help.

  • with most recent themes, this is done in ‘dashboard’ ‘appearance’ ‘widgets’

what you see in a fresh theme, when you setup wordpress for the first time, are simply hardcoded spaceholders, which should dissapear when you drag the first real widget into the respective widget area.

But there are 3 there. Advertisement, Categories, and Blogroll. I just added a calendar and it did not remove the 3. They are still there. I can’t find any way too get rid of them.

Also there is nothing in widgets with those 3 names.

    i now remember:

you picked one of those themes that ‘proud’ themselves to encrypt and block part of their template files.

not much that you can do 🙁

maybe, apart from looking for a new theme on http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

Alright, looks like I’ll look for a new theme then.

I really hate those sidebars, but I love the theme. :\

    Thanks for your help.
