• My Blog, http://oklahomacityrealestatemarket.net is hosted by hostclear through Anthony Aires. I need help.

Here is the sequence of events. I added a second banner to link to another squeeze site. I placed the text for the banner under the 1st banner. Instead of saying <center> at the beginning and </center> at the end I inserted the word “right” in an effort to make the banners appear side by side. Needless to say, it did not work.

The support team says I need “to remove the content that you added. even one wrong character can change the way everything is displaying. Whatever page you made the changes to is the page you should copy from the template and that will start it over. I don’t know how far you have gotten but it sounds like you have spent enough time to just delete the blog and reinstall it. That may be the fastest and easiest way if you aren’t comfortable with the copy/paste idea that I gave you. You could have deleted one extra bit of code and that caused the problem. Php is a very, very specific coding language.”

Trouble is I have not the 1st clue as to how to do that.

I tried to get cute and add another banner on the blog home page & ended up with the search box and links at the bottom of the page & I do not know how to get them back to the top. The problem appears to only be on the home page. Any other page the search box and hyperlinks are where they were before & know what to do to correct it so I never do anything like this again.

  • You are using the Twenty Ten Theme … if this is the only edit you have made and you simply want to reverse it then you can do so very easily.

NB: If there are other edits to the Theme files that have been made the following will over-write them and you will have to have these edits re-done.

    1. Go to your Administration Panel
    2. Under Dashboard, click Updates
    3. Click on the “Re-install Automatically” button.
    4. Follow the prompts as necessary.

This will essentially reset your web site to the default WordPress 3.1 setup using the default Twenty Ten v1.2 Theme.

Please remember to make a backup of your site prior to doing this, just in case.
