Upgraded and lost everything

    I spent a lot of time last week to customize the look and feel of my blog and when I updated today, it’s all been reset.

    I know things always end up better when you work on them the second time around. Not really feeling like doing it all again though.

    Any ideas?

    I assume you were modifying the Twenty Ten theme directly?

    Yes, your changes are gone. Sorry. There’s plans for future versions to not do that, but they didn’t make it into 3.1.

    When redoing your customizations, you may want to consider using a Child Theme instead. More info here:

    Good to know for future wp blogs..fortunately my host stores 3 backups of my files at varying time frames and I was able to restore it that way.
