• Hi!

Is it possible to move users from one WP Network installation to another or do you need to tell the users to register a new blog at the new network?
I need to know this becaus i’m planning to change the name on my WP Network 🙂

  • If you’re changing the name of the network, you need to change it in the db. the same db where your USERS are stored.

So, unless you are setting up a completely new install, no you do not have to tell your users to sign up again.

Sorry if i was not clear enogh! I will switch to another hosting service then what i have today. So i need to change the webadress and name of my network.
Is that still the way to do it? Or how do i move the whole installation without any problems to new domain?

Why do have to get a new domain? It’s not necessary if that’s what you’re thinking.

Also, a LOT of webhosts will move accounts for you. Did you ask them?

I have asked them and they say that yeah, move your database and your files – but i have already done that and they won’t help me with it. The hosting company that i use today will need 20 days to get a EPP code for the domain so it’s just temporarily i need a new domain since my account at my webhost will expire in 3 days.

I hope you understand! And when the old hosting company gives me the EPP CODE i will transfer and use that domain to 🙂

So you bought your domain from your hosting company?

I’ve transferred domains in under 5 days.

Yes i have! When i choosed this hosting company that have my domains it took like one day. But now thay say that “You have accepted this in your terms of use etc..”

If i change the nameservers will WordPress work well then?

    Always read the TOS.

Nameservers have nothing to do with WordPress.
