• Stupidly, when I uploaded the initial WordPress installation files I also added the folder they were in called ‘WordPress’. So when I created my site and tried going on it, the first page showed the option for the directory ‘wordpress’. So I would have to click that to get to my website.

You can see what I mean by looking at my site – http://www.mysite.co.uk/

So I decided to delete all the files and upload them the right way… which made everything all messed up.

Also when I tried to log in (using http://www.mysite.co.uk/wp-login.php) I got a 404 error message saying

    Not Found

The requested URL /wordpress/wp-login.php was not found on this server.
Apache Server at http://www.mysite.co.uk Port 80

So I’m guessing that the site was still looking for the file wordpress/wp-login.php rather than the wp-login.php it should be looking for…

I have now put the files back where they were in the first place so I still have this problem

So does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this or start again?

As you most probably guessed I am a beginner… Thanks a lot in advance for any help.
