• Hello!

    I have a bit of a problem.
    The situation is this:
had a blog,I wanted to restore a previous backup for it and got a 403 error.
I decided to start from scratch and deleted all files, but one folder, the uploads files, which I do not have permission to delete ( somehow I am not the owner).

I went after that and deleted all tables related to that blog from the database using phpMyAdmin.

I have downloaded a fresh WP pack and went to install it. But when I go to set up the admin/install it gives me the same error. 403.
It doesn’t work either by configuring the config.php manually…
Stuck and need at least an explanation of what I have done wrong.
Also, if someone can tell me why all /uploads dirs are created as me not being the owner would really help.

    Thanks.
    Vicky.

  • Normal permissions for folders is 755 and files 644 where admin can do all he wants so check your permissions.

well, thank you, but I already know that. I do not have permission for that particular folder on none of my blogs, wordpress created them this way. I am not the owner of that folder, with the uploads, I cannot change permissions. Cannot change it without my host provider involved. And he is not the promptest person in the world…

also, why is the error still there?

    :(((

It is not wordpress that created the permissions its your host we all using same wordpress you are and we do not have problems changing permissions.
