Could you add a field to capture the method used for each offline giving transaction? You could leave “Mail a check” on the front end, but it would be super helpful if you could make it possible in the admin section (page=donor-merchant-donations) to categorize as cash, check, cashapp, etc? You could use the “Transaction” field to show this, since it’s currently empty for offline transactions, and it would align with “pi_xxxxxxxx” for Stripe and whatever else you put in there for Paypal, etc. You could put the valid methods (including custom methods) in the Settings section (page=donor-merchant-settings&tab=general) on one of the tabs. Just a thought.

Thanks Tom, great suggestion! These changes are now live in version 2.9.1.

Offline gifts now show how they were paid in the Transaction column, like you suggested (for example “Check #1024”).

In Donations, you can hover over any donation or offline gift and choose “Change method” to set it to check, cash, Cash App or whatever you use.

Older gifts show a “Set method” link there now too. The list of methods is editable under Settings > Payments > Offline gifts > Payment methods. I put it there rather than on the General tab so it goes with the other offline settings.
