Thinks I’m offline

When I click to Connect Stripe I see an error message that it can’t connect and to check my internet connection. Internet is definitely connected.

Hi @kitka
How are you?
Thanks for reporting this issue, and I’m sorry you’re having trouble connecting your Stripe account.
I’ve just tested the Stripe connection on my development site, and everything is working as expected. I’ve also verified that the PostGate connection service is responding normally.
This suggests the issue might be related to something specific to your WordPress environment, such as a firewall, security plugin, or hosting restriction.Could you please help me check a few things?
1. PostGate version: Are you running the latest version of PostGate (1.0.5)?
2. WordPress Site Health: Navigate to Tools → Site Health and check whether WordPress reports any issues with the REST API or HTTP requests.
3. Security plugins: Are you using Wordfence, Solid Security, Cloudflare, or any other firewall or security solution? It is possible that a security/firewall layer could be blocking the connection as well.
4. Hosting provider: Could you let me know which hosting provider you’re using?
PostGate needs to communicate with the connection service to initiate the Stripe authorization process. Some hosting environments or security configurations may restrict these requests.
Please don’t disable any security features just yet. Once I have a little more information about your environment, I’ll be happy to help you narrow down the cause. Thanks for your patience, and I’ll do my best to get this working for you!
Best regards,
Marcos Barreto
PostGate DeveloperHi Marcos,
- PostGate Version 1.0.5
- WordPress Version 7.1.3
- Site health only lists usual about inactive plugins, persistent object cache, page cache not detected but server response time is OK
- Host is Synergy Wholesale in Australia
Hi @kitka
Thank you for the updates. So, in this case, we should make the following confirmations:
1. Make sure you are trying the connection from a website with a valid domain and SSL certificate, something publicly available, not an IP, localhost, or so.
3. Make sure your website is not restricted for certain countries; for example, I tried to access https://kitka.net.au/, which is the website that appears in your avatar, and it seems to be restricted to some countries, as I couldn’t access it.
In these cases, a connection is not possible either, and the reason is that Stripe’s servers are in a different location than your website, which is restricting access.
4. If you are using a security plugin, you can make a test and trying the connection by temporarily disabling it. As said before, it is possible that some security or firewall rules might be blocking the connection.
5. If it is possible, I would appreciate if you could share the URL of your website, so I can give it a better look, to understand if there’s any possible restriction as the culprit for this issue.
Thanks again for your patience. I’m happy to help you get this resolved!
Best regards,
Marcos
