    hi!

When I try to install the Wordfence license, I receive the following error message:
Error installing license. An error occurred while installing your license key.

Could this be a file permission error?

    thanks,

    thais

Hi @vilanova, thanks for getting in touch.

I suspect a JavaScript conflict might be affecting something from loading correctly. That can cause an issue with completing installation or confirming the license key. An error may display in your browser console for our pages if so.

You can troubleshoot this by disabling all plugins before reinstalling Wordfence and reverting temporarily to a default theme to see if you’re able to complete installation. If you can, reenabling everything again one-by-one afterwards can help identify the cause.

If that doesn’t work, it could be worth generating a new key as they can expire after 24h. There’s a full written and video guide here just in case any steps you were taking differ from our recommendations: https://www.wordfence.com/help/api-key/#installing-your-free-license-key

Note that your email address is used for delivery purposes of a free license only and there’s no limit on how many a single email address can request.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
