Went out on a limb with Elementor 4. I had to really sell my company on the idea of building websites quickly and handily with this tool. Sure, it was going to be a major update and there’d be some bumps along the way. Well ….

I’ve seen a lot of new software, but I’ve never experienced a major release so shot-through with significant bugs—not annoying little minor issues, but serious problems that never should’ve been inflicted on actual users in production environments. And the folks at Elementor said version 4 was ready for production environments.

I’ve lost too much time, suffered too many headaches, and had to offer too many explanations to my superiors for all the delays Elementor 4 has caused. The site I’m working on is nearly complete, but there’s technical debt to be paid: I will likely have to return to it to upgrade elements I had to downgrade to v3 in order to get them functioning properly. Basic things, like using the Featured Image as a background image in blog page headers. (Seriously—it’s a known issue a user documented in GitHub back in June. There’s still no indication that the development team is addressing it.) It’s my first Elementor site … and it’ll be my last. Future sites will be built with Bricks and/or Gutenberg, and my goal is to rebuild the Elementor site before I have to renew my Elementor One subscription.

    Thank you, Rica.

To be fair, despite the unfortunate premature release of V4, Elementor does some really great things, and V4 brings exciting features to the table. That’s why I jumped on board. The support team provides outstanding service—they’re amazing. I’m really hoping I’ll be able to change my mind when the time comes! 🙂
