Cannot change account email address

    Hi

    I’m an admin on a website (not the site owner) and have changed my email address. I tried to change it on my wordpress profile and it says:

    If you change this, an email will be sent at your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.
    There is a pending change of your email to xxxxx

    But I never receive the email to confirm the change of address. I’ve tried cancelling and refreshing but I still don’t receive the confirmation email.

    I can’t even receive email notifications of this support post as they will go to my old email address which I no longer have access to.

    Please advise a workaround.

    I’m not quite sure right now: are you talking about your account here on wordpress.org or your WordPress account for your website? The two aren’t connected and have nothing to do with each other.

    Sounds like two separate issues here:

    1. You’re not getting the email change verification email on your self-hosted WordPress website
    2. You need to change your email address on your WordPress.org account

    For your own website, could the emails be getting stuck in your spam/junk folder by any chance?

    As for your WordPress.org account, you can change the email address by going to Edit Profile > Account & Security > Account email.

    I’ve successfully changed the email address on my wordpress.org account. It’s my website I’m having issues with.

    I log on to the website, go to my profile and click edit.
    Scroll down to Contact info and input the new required email.
    I’m told a confirmation email will be sent to me but it never arrives.
    I’ve checked my webmail spam folder and there is nothing in there.

    I’ve also change the notification email address for the Contact Form block on the website. Tested it out but again didn’t receive the email notification, which I assume has gone to my old address even though the new address is showing in the notification settings for the Contact Form block.

    Glad to hear you’ve managed to update your WordPress.org account!

    With your website, it sounds like it may not have the correct settings in place to send mail. You may need to configure these using a plugin such as WP Mail SMTP by WPForms. I use this on all of my websites to ensure mail delivery.

    The email is working for the other admins on the website, not just for me trying to change my email address?

    I’ve resolved the issue.

    It was the WP Mail SMTP plug in causing the problems. I’ve deactivated it, have changed my email address without issue and am receiving notifications from the Contact Form block.
