• I have been a satisfied user of PrettyLinks for over a year and recently upgraded to PrettyLinks 4.0.15.

I am happy that I can still add new links. However, when I try to change, delete, or reset statistics for an existing link, I receive an error stating “The response is not a valid JSON response.”

    I am using WordPress 7.1

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to our support!

That “not a valid JSON response” on edit, delete, or reset stats usually means your host is caching WordPress REST API responses. Pretty Links’ admin uses that API, so a cached reply shows up as that error.

If you use LiteSpeed, turn off “Cache REST API” and “Cache Logged-in Users,” exclude /wp-json/, and purge. On WP Engine, adjust the REST API caching settings the same way. Other hosts should have similar configurations, so if you’re unsure about how to do it, kindly check with their support.

A fix for this is coming in the next release. Until then, that host-side change is the workaround.

    Best,
    Euler.
