    Hey Spectra-Team!

I was using Spectra (now Spectra Legacy), but unfortunately the “read more” button/link in the post grid block doesn’t show the title of the post as screen reader text, so a screen reader user ends up with the same text for each button/link not knowing where it is linking to.

So I switched to the post block from Spectra Blocks. But again there was a problem: There is no “read more” feature/setting anymore. Searching for “read more” does not show the core block. There seems to be something that blocks the core block in showing up for the post block in the inserter. It couldn’t be nested in this block.

In a brave move (after ChatGPT was encouraging me to do so), I tried to add this in the code view.

    I just added this line:

    <!-- wp:read-more {"content":"Read more"} /-->

    And it worked!

So it is not a problem per se. Only an inserter bug. Maybe you can get this fixed, so this could be added with the inserter in the future?

    All the best
    Torsten

    Hi @zodiac1978,

Thank you for the detailed report and for testing this so thoroughly. That context helps a lot.

I tried this on a fresh test site with Spectra Blocks 1.0.6. When I select any block inside the Post block template and search for “read more” in the inserter, the core Read More block shows up and inserts into the template without any trouble. On the frontend it also outputs the post title as hidden screen reader text, so each link reads as “Read more, post title” for screen reader users.

Here is a short screencast of the test on our installation: https://d.pr/v/116QRG

Since the block is not appearing in your inserter, something on the site may be hiding it. Could you help us with a few details?

    • Your WordPress and Spectra Blocks versions.
    • Whether the block appears in the inserter search after temporarily deactivating other plugins.

You can use snipboard.io or imgur to share the screenshot.

Please let us know how it goes, and once it works for you, kindly mark the topic as resolved.

    Have a great day ahead!

    Hi @ravigojiya

thanks for the detailed reply! Much appreciated.

I saw another bug coming with my reported issue: The admin bar was also shown in the editor after clicking on the post block. Maybe a browser cache issue or adblocker/firewall blocking something, I don’t know. But today I was trying to reproduce this and both issues are not reproducible anymore.

So thank you again for your answer – everything is indeed working as expected. 🙂

    All the best

Thank you for coming back and confirming that. Good to hear both issues have cleared up on their own.

Please do reach out anytime you spot something or need a hand with anything else.
