Cannot continue setup – Error getting Google Ads status, Continue disabled

    Hi,

    I’m having trouble finishing the account setup for Google for WooCommerce (Google Listings & Ads) plugin. I noticed a similar report from @msc999 in this topic:

    What happens:

    On the “Set up your accounts” screen, my Google account connects successfully and shows the correct details:

    However, I get this error message:
    “There was an error getting the status of your Google Ads account. Please reconnect your Google account.”

    The “Continue” button stays disabled, so I cannot proceed with the setup no matter how many times I reconnect the Google account.

    Note: it’s set to “Burn after read” for privacy, so it will only work once — let me know if you need me to repost it.

    Hi @doru75!

    Thanks for providing the detailed information and the System Status Report. I understand that your Google account connects successfully and the correct Merchant Center and Google Ads IDs are displayed, but you’re receiving the “There was an error getting the status of your Google Ads account” message and the Continue button remains disabled.

    I’ve checked the System Status Report you provided, and everything appears to be in order from what I can see on my end.

    To help us narrow down the cause, could you please try the following conflict test:

    1. Clear your site/server cache.
    2. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and Google for WooCommerce
    3. Switch to a default WordPress theme, such as Storefront.
    4. Reconnect your Google account and check whether you’re then able to complete the setup.

    I recommend performing this test on a staging site so your live site remains unaffected.

    If the setup works correctly with only WooCommerce, Google for WooCommerce, and the default theme active, we can then narrow down which plugin or theme may be causing the conflict.
