How exactly did you exclude the post by ID?
in Searching/Exclusion Rules & Filters I entered the ID number and saved the change, then I reindexed.

That’s not an indexing exclusion: it only blocks the post from the search (note that it’s under Searching settings, not under Indexing settings). So it’s correct the post is still indexed. There are ways to unindexed the post completely; the easiest is to use Premium and check the “Exclude this post from the index” checkbox on the post edit page.
I’m translating Premium and I tested it with Premium. This setting is the same as the free version.
Yes, but Premium has an actual search index exclude setting in the post edit page. If you have trouble locating it, please contact Premium support; I can’t help you with Premium features here on the free version forums.
Yes, if I exclude it from the post editing area, it works. I think the Premium version needs to be tweaked a bit.
