Hi, I love the simplicity of your plugin. But in order to use my own download buttons (generated by my theme) is the only way to do that is to copy manually the url generated by the shortcode? Because the “permalink” button only give the direct url of the file (useless for counting the downloads)…

    Thanks a lot.

Glad to help, but not sure if I understand which buttons/URL you are asking about.. can you maybe share a screenshot or provide further explanation? That way I can follow along, try to understand, and provide accurate information asap, thank you.

As you know, WordPress themes use their own button styles, and you can apply the file URL to them to create a simple direct download button.

When you use your shortcode on a page, it generates a “special” text link to track downloads. How do you use these links on your websites? Do you leave them as plain text, or do you copy the URL and paste it into your buttons? Thanks a lot.

Thank you. Still not sure if I understand correctly, but if you are trying to display a link for users to download an item, you can use the following shortcode:

    [sdc_count id="123"]

The URL is created dynamically based on the id parameter. No need to copy/paste any URLs.

Edited to add: remember to change the id value to the actual download id.

Thanks for you answers. The problem is that the shortcode display a text link, not a styled button. If I want to ad a nice button “Download the PDF” styled with CSS, the only way possible is to copy and paste the URL created dynamically by the shortcode on my button?

    Hmm maybe try this:

    [sdc_download id="123" type="button"]

Interesting, it’s working, and it become centered if i add :

    <div style="text-align: center;">[sdc_download id="224254" type="button"]</div>

    Thanks a lot.
