Hi, could you please let me know how to safely disable the automation and what happens when I re-enable a disabled workflow? Do contacts pick up where they left off, or does anything change in terms of their journey? Thanks in advance!
You can safely disable an automation at any time. Disabling a workflow pauses it and preserves all of its performance data, so you can re-enable it whenever you’re ready.
Step 1. Open the workflow you want to disable and click Disable (located below the Close button in the top menu).
Alternatively, you can disable it directly from the Automation list:
Find the workflow
Click the three-dot menu
Select Disable
Step 2. Before disabling the workflow, you’ll be asked what should happen to contacts who are already in it:
Let them finish the workflow – Contacts already in the workflow continue through the current version until they complete it.
Exit from the workflow – Contacts leave the workflow immediately, regardless of where they are in the journey.
Step 3. Click Disable workflow.
Once disabled, the workflow stops accepting new contacts, while existing contacts are handled according to the option you selected.
What happens when you re-enable the workflow?
When you enable the workflow again, only new contacts who meet the trigger conditions will enter. Contacts who previously completed or exited the workflow won’t automatically resume or re-enter unless they trigger the workflow again.
We hope this helps clarify how disabling and re-enabling automations works. If you’re planning changes to a live workflow and would like to make sure they have the intended effect, we’re always here to help you choose the best approach for your goals.
