Thanks for reaching out! I would recommend using the preset “Prioritize retention of detail” which will use lossless compression that will result in a smaller file size without degrading the image quality.
I would also recommend enabling the option to create a webP version of the images which will be automatically served on the site instead of the original jpeg/png.
Under the advanced options in WP-Optimize > Images I recommend enabling the option to backup original images and while testing the compression and conversion to set the image retention policy to a high number of days before they are automatically deleted just in case you need to restore the originals and tweak the compression settings.
