Default Invoice in Newest Version is Bad

Since updating from version 5.9 to 7.2, the default invoice layout has changed significantly and, in my view, the new version looks much worse.

I appreciate that design is subjective, but I would like to know whether there is a way to replicate the old invoice layout directly within the new version.

Would it be possible to recover the invoice template from version 5.9 and adapt it for use with version 7.2?

I have read the FAQs about creating a custom template, but the plugin structure in version 5.9 is completely different from the structure used in version 7.2. For example, version 5.9 does not contain an invoice.php or base.php file.

Because the files and folders do not match those referenced in the FAQ, the documented process does not appear to apply to this particular situation.

Please could you let me know whether there is a supported way to take the previous default invoice template from version 5.9 and use it within version 7.2, so that we can restore the layout we preferred?

We never created a custom template. The layout we want to retain was the standard default template supplied with version 5.9. As the old and new folder structures do not match, and the files referenced in the current guidance do not exist in the previous version, the FAQ does not provide a workable route for restoring it.

Please advise how the previous default layout can be carried across or made available within version 7.2.
