Cannot manually update

    When I tried to mollify Wordfence by “manually updating”, in order to get rid of the annoying reminder, I got this error message: “Please verify you have permissions to write to the /wp-content/wflogs directory.” I am the website administrator, so don’t understand this error message. How can I correct? –Rick

    The error you are seeing is a file permission issue at the server level rather than a WordPress admin issue. Here is how to fix it:

    Via cPanel File Manager:

    1. Log into cPanel
    2. Go to File Manager
    3. Navigate to wp-content/wflogs/
    4. Right-click → Change Permissions
    5. Set to 755 and save

    Via FTP:

    1. Connect to your site via FTP
    2. Navigate to wp-content/wflogs/
    3. Right-click → File Permissions
    4. Set to 755 and click OK

    If you are unsure how to do this, your hosting provider should be able to assist.
