Hello @superbiggi ,
I hope you are doing well. If it kept spinning, you may want to consider checking your website resources. Try clearing your websites cache, check if there is an update with the app version itself. Sometimes an app may have conflict with the other plugins you installed, so you may want to consider checking your plugins and making sure it’s all updated, then try to do some conflict checks.
You may also try checking the error logs to see what’s in there.
You may wan to check some troubleshooting FAQ here: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/faq-troubleshooting/
I hope this helps.
Can you help me by explaining what you mean? What website resources should I be checking (this is for the app, not website ftp access)? What I did is delete the “logs” from the app; I did not find any other “cache” that can be deleted (the iphone itself doesn’t list anything that can be deleted with the app but to make sure, I did delete and reinstall the app which should have cleared it all, correct?).
I have the latest update for the WordPress app. My plugins are also updated. How do I check for conflicts? Where do I find error logs?
Hi @superbiggi,
Could you let us know whether any of the suggestions above helped? If the comments are still not loading, we’ll be happy to take a closer look.
The comments load fine on a desktop (so an app issue). I have tried the app without using my wifi, just data, and it has the same issues with the comments (so not a network issue). So it’s an app issue. I have also used this app (for posts to my hiking blog) without issues in the past. I have not added any plugins since then but am happy to share what I have activated: Akismet. Jetpack. Smush. UpdraftPlus. I just deactivated all but Jetpack, removed my site from the app and re-entered it. Same result. No other firewall etc is installed.
The phone is an iphone 16, iOS 26.4.2, self hosted site and I have updated the WordPress app continuously, I don’t know the version but the last update through the App store was a few days ago.
Thank you.
Hey @superbiggi!
Thanks for the detailed testing. Your testing does indeed point to something in the app rather than your site. Could you give us a bit more info?
- I know you’ve confirmed the app is up to date, but can you give us the exact app version? The exact build number still helps us match this against a specific release, so if you can grab it, it’s under Me > Help & Support in the app.
- How did you add the site to the app, with a WordPress.com login, or with your site address and an application password?
- Please send a report from inside the app, which attaches the logs they need to diagnose it. You can do that from Me > Help > Contact Support. There’s more detail here if you need it. (That report goes straight to our app support team privately, not to this public forum, so anything in the logs stays between you and us.)
Cheers!
The version is 27.0
I added the site by selecting “self hosted” site, and then my password. When I reinstalled the app, it didn’t ask for a password.
Under “Me”, it only lists “Help and Support”. There is no option for “Contact Support”, only to ask a question in the community forum. (please note I’ll be out of reception for the next 3 days but I’ll check in when I’m back).
Hey @superbiggi,
First off, your troubleshooting was really helpful echoing my colleague’s comment above.
The WordPress app loads comments through a sync between your site and our servers. We checked your site on our end and found that sync had gotten stuck, which is why the app shows a spinner while the desktop works fine. The desktop reads comments directly from your site, but the app relies on that sync being up to date.
We’re running a full sync for your site, and it should be completed by the time you’re back in reception. Once you’re back, open the app, go to Comments, and see if they load. If the spinner is gone, you’re all set. If it’s still there, let us know and we’ll dig deeper.
