Thank you for letting us know!
This is expected behavior in BackWPUp 5.7.4.
The latest version includes an additional security check that detects leftover files from previous restore operations. If any are found, BackWPUp displays this notice so they can be removed safely.
Simply clicking the Delete Files button is all that’s needed. Once the files are removed, the notice will no longer appear.

Einfach löschen und vergessen? Ein bisschen mehr Info dazu wäre schon toll! Wo sind diese Dateien, welche sind es und warum sollten die Zugangsdaten im Klartext enthalten?

Thank you for the information. However, I have never run any restore operations on the sites in question. Why would the program detect files for an operation that was never performed?

Ebenfalls, auch auf unseren Websites musste noch nie eine Wiederherstellung gemacht werden.

The notice is shown when BackWPup detects restore-related files, such as restore.dat.bkp, in the restore working directory. This file is created very early in the restore process, so its presence simply means that a restore was initialized at some point. It does not necessarily mean that a restore completed successfully.
For example, this can happen if a restore was started and then interrupted, or if the site was migrated or copied from another environment where those restore files were already present.
I hope that clarifies why you saw the notice.
Ich weiß zwar nicht, wo diese Datei(en) genau zu finden sein sollte(n), aber auch eine Suche über die gesamte Website bringt keine solchen Treffer (überhaupt keine *.bkp). Auf 8 Websites nicht, wo das Plugin läuft, aber diese komische Meldung zeigt.
Nein, es gab keine Migration und wie gesagt, keine Wiederherstellung. Auch keinen Versuch dazu.
Denke, da liegt ein Fehler im Plugin vor.
Ebenfalls sollte man mal klären, warum darin Zugangsdaten im Klartext sein sollten?
@saranshwpm, Yes, thank you. What you say makes perfect sense about the triggering of the security warning message. However, just for your information, that message was triggered on every site I manage that upgraded to the new version (across multiple different hosting platforms). I’ve currently only used this plugin for backup purposes and it has never been used to restore (even partially) or migrate a site. Something was triggering the message but once it was selected, the message no longer appears.

Update: Habe die Datei(en) gefunden: In /wp-content/uploads/backwpup-restore lag echt eine restore.dat.bkp!
Mein Fehler, habs übersehen.
Es scheint, als dass BackWPup dies immer (für den Fall einer Wiederherstellung) anlegt, auch wenn man keine anstößt.
Nach dem Klick auf löschen wird die restore.dat.bkp und noch weitere Dateien aus /wp-content/uploads/backwpup-restore entfernt. Das eigentliche Backup, sofern am Server gelagert, bleibt davon unberührt.
I am seeing this message too and have never used this plugin to restore. Can you advise of the directory so I can inspect these restore files?

(Edit to update — looked at the files from the restore folder — think maybe we did try a restore two years ago — that’s what was in there.)
