Feature Request – Subscriptions/Expiry (non WC)

I know there is an option to offer paid subscriptions via Woocommerce Subscriptions, but we have a website that will be free forever for subscribers. But to keep the website current, we want to add an annual subscription or expiry system to all member accounts that they have to renew each year, again free, to remain visible on the website.

It would need to send an automatic email X days before expiry as a reminder to renew, even an auto renewal via a link in the email.

Is there any options to do this without having to go through a ecommerce system process for a free account and renewal?
